: Hey my name is Jen and I have about a 5 month old grey squirrel.I am in the process of asking someone if they can build a cage for him but im not sure exactly how big it should be.I know squirrels should be released but I am extrememly attatched to my squirrel and hes very tame and attched to me also so I am keeping him.If you own a squirrel and would like to tell me any extra advice on food, cage, etc please fill free!! thanx so much Jen

Jen,
The bigger the better. Many people use birdcages. The mesh size should not exceed 1" x ½". You can include a nest box, braches and a salt spool, a calcium block, food and water dish. I use Martin's cage LSG 520 http://www.martinscages.com/sug.htm Hope this helps. I use these cages for my gliders also. Melonie
