:Hi
:I have been trying to research about some cats. I really want one but dont know what type to buy? Im looking for a big cat, as big as i can get , but a tame one. Something that will maybe use a litter box if possible.

I am not sure what you mean by "big" or by "tame." The really big cats, such as tigers, are never really TAME and they DEFINITELY will not use a litter box. Some people consider anything bigger than a housecat to be a "big" cat, and I know folks who have some really nice cats such as servals who, while a challenge to own and with a definite need for their owners to be educated and aware, do fit into an appropriate home very well. The serval cat I know is very much larger than a housecat, and definitely different in personality and "feel" than a housecat. She uses a litterbox but also has access to an outdoor enclosure (very large, very secure - it was built for the owners' wolves, who are now passed away) and she mostly uses that. Her litterbox is larger than a housecat litterbox, but uses regular cat litter. I don't personally know any of the other more common exotic cats who are smaller in size, but some other species are successfully kept as pets by dedicated owners. Most, though, have access to secure outdoor enclosures as well as the home, or even instead of the home.

If you are talking about the really large cats, however, you are in a WHOLE other universe, and talking about things like litterboxes makes me wonder what you have in mind? Even if a tiger could be trained to use a litter box, and local laws permitted you to keep one, realize the SIZE of litter box you would need for a truly large cat.

So, what do you have in mind here?

Christie
