I'm biased because I've met a serval kept as a pet, and have never met any of the others, but I'll tell you, this cat was wonderful.

If you are up to the challenge, I think a serval is an excellent choice. If not, you can look at one of the hybrids such as a Savannah (Serval/domestic cat cross). They are much easier to care for.

As I said, my friend's Serval uses a large litter box, but also uses the outdoor enclosure, to which she has 24/7 access via a pet door. I wouldn't count on total litter box training in a serval cat.
