Hi,

I would say that it looks very odd to be a "normal" chinchilla. I am thinking that either the coat has not come in fully (which would account for the strange face) or it may not be of the common species of chinchilla people tend to keep in the pet trade (there are several genus/species in the family). It is also possible that it may be another form of rodent altogether and not of the chinchilla-rat family. I've been looking around without much luck so far, but I'll keep trying.
