:Hi- I recently rescued a trio of chin siblings, 2 females and one male (fixed) who had grown up together for all of their 2 or so years and are very bonded and sweet. They have been with me for over a months and seem to especially love the huge Martin's cage I got for them...I adore them. My question is that I have noticed the occasional squabble that one or 2 get into---usually a rustle and little squak----not often, but I've seen it around the food bowl once. Like any siblings, is this normal? Or should I put a second food dish in the house (the one they have is very large and I have seen them all around it many times. Also, as their individual personalities emerge, I see that one of the females is definately more shy than the others, and the male is the most affectionate/curious. Any comments on that will be appreciated, too:) Steph (and Thelma and Louise and Harvey)
Congratulations on your chinchillas and thanks for rescuing them. What you are describing is not un common. You might want to go ahead and put a second feed area in the cage (at least 2 chinchilla lengths away from the original one) and see if that does the trick. It should help :)
Enjoy them
