Why does your chin need to gain weight? First you need to find what the problem is. A common fault of chinchilla owners is affectionatly called "death by love". If you just want your chinchilla to get chunkier than that is not safe for him. Overfeeding can cause liver problems later in life. I agree, take him to the vet to check out his teeth etc. Are you weighing him regularly? You want to do that to make sure your chin stays at a healthy weight, and any sudden losses (or gains) will alert you to a problem. I didn't think about using oxbow's critical care (thanks for the info Sarah!) but there are chinchilla supplements on the market for chins. Try Lonstarchinchilla.com or chinworld.com . Basically most supplements are made of whole oats and wheatgerm. Hope this helps
