Confused about the gender of my Chipmunks

: Hi : I am confused after finding babies in our Chipmunk nesting box. : I intended to breed my Chipmunks, but thought the sex of my Chipmunks was the opposite to what I think they now are. : After a unforutnate (terminal) accident with what I thought was the male, we purchased another Chipmunk hoping it was another male. We already had what I thought was a female. : I thought the one was the female was getting rather round around the base, and I thought, hey She is pregnent. : But now I think the new Chipmunk is the female, as it appears to have 6 nipples (is this correct ?), and sleeps with the babies at night. : What I thought was the Female now sleeps in a tube outside of the nest box. Was the roundness just a case of eating too much and getting fat ? : The one that sleeps with the babies is very friendly, but chases the other one alot. The other one is very timid. : Can you give me any clues as to what I have ? : I suppose the final answer will be if the babies survive. : Thanks for any help to reduce my confusion
