I have been in contact with the AZA, and they have informed me that there has never been, and is not, any attempt on such a ban on the agenda - it seems the newsletter got it wrong! apparently, the annual meeting this year concerned Animal Welfare, the Endangered Species Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, and the so don't panic, you'll keep your pets. altho I'm still personally against pet wolves, foxes etc, but I'll leave that alone.
