Under the right conditions dormice will breed continually, which is extremely hard on the female after a few consecutive litters. I usually separate the male from the female when she pregnant, because she will go into heat again within 24 hours of giving birth. I keep them apart for about after her litter is weaned so the females can get themselves back into condition after the rigors of nursing and raising young. Then just put the male back with her, and the next time she is in heat they will likely breed.
