Well I have a 2 and a half year old female ferret named Slink. When not in the presence of another ferret she is very playful and loving with me, but about a year ago when I tried to introduce her to a baby boy ferret (Spud), she became very stand-offish. Spud would go up to her and try to play.. even roll on his back to spark some interest in playing, but that would only anger Slink more to the point where she would lunge at Spud and try to get a grip on his neck. I quickly grabbed her and scolded her and sent her to timeout. This first happened when we brought the ferrets to a neutral area where they wouldnt be overwhelmed by the scent of eachother, but we tried having them out in Slinks area and then tried in Spuds area. Then when Slink was in her own area she was very territorial and would go right after Spud, but when we were in Spud's area Slink wouldnt even be willing to come out of the crate.
So anyways I'm posting this because I'd love for Slink to be able to enjoy other ferrets and I'd even love to get another, but I'm afraid for its life. Is this just part of her personality that I can't help change? Or is there hope. Thanks in advance!
