Okay...let me be wishy-washy. On the one hand I think it is an individual thing on the other hand I tend to think that often the ones most likely to be ferocious biters are females. I just lost my first ferret, Ceasar, to lymphoma and the only time he bit was in play and it was a nip on the ankles or toes. Lily bites out of fear, the hardest thing to remember is that fear is a relative thing, so I tend to call it a "percieved threat". Something may seem totally innocent to us but is really a terrifying thing to them. Lily once bit me so that I had to pry her little jaws off of me, the puppy was yelping in the other room from getting a discipline growl from one of the other dogs. I think Pandora doesn't even know she has teeth. My other two ferts which I rescued a few days ago are still unknown to me as far as biting goes, but from what the former owner told me and my experience with them so far they'd have to be pushed pretty hard to bite. One is male and the other female (Marcus and Daphne).
Other ferret owners that I've talked to over the years have also said that they've found females to be more likely to bite.
So..how wishy-washy was that? LOL
