Hi all
I'm new to this board and wonder if anyone can help. Here is the story so far. Our little piggy went to the vet because it had something in its eye. The offending object was removed and the eye was fine. However, the vet noticed that there was a small amount of discharge from one of its nostrils and said that this was normally caused by a problem with its teeth.
The piggy was booked in for an appointment, given a general anesthetic and had it's teeth filed down (though apparently they weren't too bad anyway). Bear in mind that he was apparently a little over weight. Well, since then, he has not been eating and has lost 15% of his body weight. We are having to syringe feed him and have taken him back to the vet but they can find nothing wrong with him.
What is strange is that he wants to eat. He still get excited when he sees food, but he tries to eat it and ends up getting cross and giving up. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
He does not appear to be refusing to eat, just physically not being able. But as the vet can find nothing wrong with his teeth / jaw etc (even had a couple of x-rays) we are at a loss. We are also giving him a prescribed painkiller each morning just in case.
