a chamomile tea wash. Peroxide in an open wound hurts a LOT. It also destroys tissue and can slow healing. Unless there is an active infection working there, chamomile tea makes a good antiseptic wash. This is what I use first in wound healing after initial clean-up (depending on what caused the wound).
All you need for it is chamomile flowers, either bought in bulk at a store, or even chamomile tea bags will do it, but buy the tea bags that just have chamomile in it, not mixed with something else. Put one tea bag (or about a Tablespoon of loose flowers) into a cup of boiling water and let it cool down. Remove the tea bag and discard it, use the cooled water to wash the wound out with. This is also a healing preparation, but doesn't work as fast as does the calendula -- it is very good for wound washing.
Both plants -- calendula and chamomile -- are safe for guinea pigs.
Is he on any antibiotics?
