Glad I could help. I agree with you that is it very important to find the right kind of vet for your type of animal. Not every vet is qualified for all. Sorry about your gerbil. I came across a lot of forums by doing a search. I just typed in Guinea pig forums and the lists came up. Maybe you could also try that for your gerbil. Hope you have better luck with your Gerbils in the future and can get help quicker :)
:Thanks Pat for responding to my plea.
:There is nothing more depressing than posting a message when u need answers a.s.a.p., and no one seems to care, nor cares to acknowledge your plea for help. You opened my eyes to new sites which may be able to help me sooner. Plus, I didn't realize that these boards are not used often enough.
:I'll look into those other sites, for I have other pets that might need help in the future. I look after my animals seriously, and don't usually run into too many health problems.
:I am pretty sure that a Vet had something to do with the premature death of a gerbil I brought in for a broken leg.
:The Veterinarian squeezed my male gerbil's tummy in an examination, causing my gerbil to die.
:He didn't know enough about small animals, or rodents. Therefore,I hesitated this time in bringing my baby gerbil to him.
:I was trying to find answers to the bloated condition, where my guess now would be that it had an infection.
:I'll try to keep you posted if you want to know.
:Thx
