We got our hamster a little over a month ago and I always made comments about it having so many bowel movements and it was not diarrhea like droppings. We cleaned his cage out at least 3-4 times a week and my husband who has had hamsters before checked him out to make sure he did not have wet tail. This was a very active animal that ate and drank just fine but we can home yesterday to find him in a coma like state taking just a few breaths every couple of minutes or so and after a few hours of that just quit breathing altogether. My husband wondered if there might have been something wrong with his teeth because he did not gnaw on any of the hamster sticks we put in his cage or anything. Anyone know why he may have died?
