Thank you both for your responses. I don't think there are many bad things that are really unique to hedgehogs, just caged animals in general. I appreciated the list that was made. It seems to fall in line with general care requirements that I've seen so far. The only thing I hadn't heard was about babies and quilling. This is completely new to me and I appreciate the info.
When I worked at a humane society, people would bring them in after not holding them for long periods of time. I'm actually used to them being big ol balls of spines. I havn't run into too many really loving hedgies yet. I do realize that these animals hadn't been handled. We used to talk about how you could hold them with gloves for about a month and then they would warm up. I can't say that I really know how loving they can be. I'm used to animals that recieve my affection and don't give a whole bunch back (except for my southern flying squirrel).
I think that they would fit into my life pretty well. There is a hedgehog convention in niagara falls in June (I think). I'm planning on going there to check it out.
Thanks for your info.
Talk to you later,
David
