Hi there.....my first question back is how big is your enclosure for him and what is in there with him? He should have at least a 10gal tank or equivalent cage space, a couple hiding places, something to chew on and a solid wheel (the kind with no spokes to get his tail caught in). If he's got all that, and even if he doesn't, spiny mice have a very strong need to be in a colony, so he might just be lonesome. I would suggest buying another male of similar age to be a companion, and introduce them very carefully so they don't fight. There are quite a few articles online about introducing rodents to each for the first time, any of them should work. Good luck!
