I don't like to use medications unless necessary. If you picked them off and you moved her cage higher, why not just wait and see? There is a product called Ticked Off that takes the whole tick of an animals that works great. I use it on myself. Gets the whole tick, mouth and all.

Another thought. Did you have her running around in the yard? She could have put her face through high grass and got the ticks but you didn't see them until they got bigger.

Fleas and ticks don't like cedar. Can you spread some around under the cages? Do not put it in the cages since most small animals get a reaction from the cedar oils. Also, Diamotacious Earth (sold in plant nursary stores) also kills most fleas and ticks (works great on carpenter ants too)
