In Reply to: Can differing species of rats share a cage? posted by forevernaught on April 01, 2003 at 08:42:39:
:I have two regular big male rats sharing a 10 gallon at the moment, but I am getting a bigger cage in the near future. The other day I found these hairless rats that I find cool looking, and I may pick one up as soon as I get the new cage. Do you think my regular rats would harm a new hairless rat if I placed them in the same cage?
Thanx for the info, all. The cage I'm looking at is a ferrot cage. Its a lot wider and taller, although very basic. I'll have to add stuff for them to crawl around on to take advantage of the height of the cage (boards, ladders, whatever I can find that will hook onto the sides of the cages).
I'm glad I can mix and match the rats, though. Does this mean they can also breed if I introduced a female hairless? Them would be some ugly looking rats. :)
