Your terrier probably will never get over his excitement about the rats. Terriers of all kinds were bred to go after small animals..Everything from foxes to Rats.. so its hardwired into them to want to chase and kill rodents. Rats are what they use when they do the tunnel dog competitions with Jack Russel Terriors. The rats are in a cage at one end and the dogs placed at the other to run through tunnels and find the rats...no harm to the rats.. most are used to the noise and sit calmly in the cage watching the dog bark futilely at it...
