rat cages?

does any one use ferret cages for rats? I don't think they would be able to get out, but some ferret cages have different spacings. Would the rats be able to use the bubble tubes used for ferrets? Or are they too different? I currently have a large rabbit cage for my adult rats, and the babies can fit through the bars when they first start climbing, but I'm not too worried about that, because I put them into aquariums until they are large enough to stay in the wire cage or weaned and sold. Does any one else use ferret/chinchilla cages for their rats? Would they enjoy multilevels? I know they would like the hammocks and such already. Thanks ahead of time.
