If your rats large enough not to squeeze through the bars ferret cages are fine. I have a Prevue Ferret cage, with bar spacing of 3/4 in.

But if you're looking for multi level cage you might wanna look into Martins. They have cages made specific for small animals, with small bar spacing and 1/2 x 1/2 wire floors. I've found them to be cheaper than most of the ferret cages too.
