Hi Dan,
It's very possible to keep a wild mole as a pet, we have one! We've had him for several months now, Taz is in a aquarium with a wire top. He can't use a regular rodent (but moles aren't rodents) water bottle but needs a small ceramic bowl on the floor. The water bowl gets dirty fast because of all the cedar bedding that Taz likes to burrow in. He also has several empty toilet paper rolls for "tunnels" and small cardboard box to go into and burrow under. These cardboard items need to be replaced quite often as he chews holes in them. Taz eats dogfood mostly and like sausage, hotdog pieces and other meats. He will also eat pizza crust and other things but doesn't seem to like seeds or grains much. He stores his food under his cardboard "house" and gets very disturbed if anything is moved in his domain. We live caught him once and put him outside, and I believe he came right back into the house(either that or it was a different mole)! We finally caught him again with a butterfly net, and since it was winter, decided to keep him. He has been one of the more interesting pets we've ever had, which would include, turtles, frogs, snakes, dogs, cats, ferret, rabbit, bird, rats and mice. Taz seems to be doing very well. He doesn't adjust to changes and like a bird, you can't be too rough with him or startle him. Hope you got to keep your mole. They are worth it!

:Hi,

:Unfortunately it's extremely difficult to keep moles in captivity. Their omnivorous diet consists of items other than earthworms and if not provided with a properly balanced diet can die from nutrtional deficiencies. They also require a lot of space, more so than what can conventially be supplied in your standard sized cages/tanks. I would highly suggest you find a safe place to release it.
