Help! Wild mice and parasites

This may not be the place to ask this - but I"m at a loss after searching the 'Net.
A wild mouse was caught in a "snap" trap in our house last night. I noticed it, but had to finish a couple of things before I could dispose of it. I have NEVER encountered this before (and hope I never have to again!) but by the time I'd returned to it, this very large (about 1/2 my thumb)sized (and Disgusting!) dark, thick maggoty-looking thing was evidently escaping it's intestinal tract. I"m not terribly squeamish, but this was just horrid. I haven't ANY idea what it is, can't find any info on intestinal parasites in wild mice, and with a loved pet guinea pig in this home would Really like some info on whatever this awful thing was...
help??

Many thanks in advance!!
~Mozelle
