Thanks for that advice Michelle. I JUST contacted Texas Parks and Wildlife, and they told me that skunks are indeed legal to own in Texas provided the following are obtained:
1)Certificate of health from the place where the skunk is purchased
2)Furbearers permit which costs $50 and last for 3 years
3)Letter of Authorization from Texas Department of Health
So, basically, it's a BIG hassle to have a skunk in Texas, but it IS possible! I'm not sure if more people know about this, or if they just assume that it's illegal in Texas. Well, either way, the person I spoke with advised me to get a copy of my local ordinances to make sure it's legal, which I already had. Sooooooo, as far as I can tell, skunks are legal here. I just need to find someone willing to send me one now! >_<
:I wouldn't check with City Hall, I'd double check with Fish and Game. They are the ones that would know more, and sometimes they all conflict with eachother. If they say you need a permit, go ahead and get one. I know that Ruby's won't ship there, because of the legalities, so you need to have paperwork in hand so that you can back up the legal standpoint there. I'd also get a copy of the statute allowing them.
