Thanks for the encouraging response. I go out every evening at dark and scan the yard in hopes of getting a glimpse of him, but with no luck yet. I believe he is still in the area though because on my way to work a couple of times I have caught the strong scent of a skunk about 300 yards up the road from our home. We haven't seen a skunk ran over on the highway in our area either. I believe he will survive OK since he had not been descented and he knew how to find food. Plus, he was very healthy when he left. I had weighed him about a week before, and he weighed around 8 pounds.
When we had him in the house he exibited the same type behavior that I read about domesticated pet skunks having. He liked to play little games of chase, hide clothes left on the floor, and constantly curious about everything he could get into. One of the things I miss most about him, is when he got tired of romping at night, he would go into our bedroom and climb up the side of our king size bed, slide under the bed spread and top sheet and go to sleep. When I noticed he wasn't plundering around anymore, I could go into our bedroom, and there would be a little hump in the bed, and I knew where he was.

:My, what a wonderful story! Yes, it is still possible for him to come home. He may not want to stay, but my bets are on that you will at least see glimpses of him.
:Many people have rescued wild skunks and have kept them as wonderful pets, descented and non. Please let me know if he returns to you, and best of luck with your new baby.
