My name is Jackie and I live in Montreal, Quebec.
Last week I found 3 baby squirrels, cold, and huddled at the bottom of a tree. I waited until nightfall to see if a Mom would come but get them, but to no avail.
So I decided to intervene and take them into my care. They are on puppy milk formulav and are about 8 weeks old. They eat fruits every now and them (bananas, kiwi, apples) and occasionally some bread.
I went out and got them some monkey buscuits today, but when I got home to feed them, I picked the most fiesty, the leader of the three up, to find that he was limp, totally weak, and nearly unconcious.
I called EVERYHWERE here in Montreal and was so sad to find out that NOBODY could help me (I called over 35 places). I had no idea what was wrong with him.
At first he appeared to have 2 seizures (back arched, was laying on his tummy and tail flew around in circles) then after that it got progressively worse. He nearly stopped breathing but I did not give up on him for three hours. The entire time to kept him warm, and as a last resort I gave him a bit of CPR cause he looked like he was gagging.
Surprisingly, this brought him back and he's wiped and sleeping with his two other brothers.
Why did this happen? They are being fed normally, at the required hours, the required amount and the required food.
What gets me is that the other two brothers are still running around the cage and very playful.
Any feedback would be great.
