My question would be...Exactly what kind of chestnuts are these? "Horse chestnuts" are poisonous. If the squirrels tasted them and left them alone...they probably aren't eating them for a reason. Squirrels typically eat alot of acorns, hickory nuts, & walnuts. If there are pecan trees available to them, they will think they died and went to heaven! :-)

:Thanks. Basically I was wondering if collecting all these scores of lovely chestnuts, that otherwise would become garbage, and leaving them for the squirrels that roam around is worth my time and effort. I guess you're saying it is.
