Sometimes this happens with new parents but I haven't heard of it happening with weaned joeys. Most of the time it is with younger ones for reasons like, they are sick or have a defprmity. The reason they do that is it is an instinct to eat a dead baby because then the preditors won't smell the blood and find their nest. Also sometimes it is because it has a very unfamiliar smell they may bite them. Although a lot of time with first and even second time parents they do things a little different. About trying to clomb on their back I would say that they usually stop when they are to big about 1 week and sometimes a lot later though. If the parents let them contine to do it then they will though. It all sounds kind of confusing. If you would like you can email me directly @ sueannapost@hotmail.com

Good luck.
Sueanna
