Christmas Glider??

I woke up to this guy in my Christmas tree at 2:00 am. He was making some scratching noises on a window sill near the tree. When I approached him he jumped into the tree where I was able to coax him to the top. I opened the slider door and as I tried to catch him, he "flew" right out the door. What a neat animal! I live in NJ and have seen one jump from the house and glide towards a tree when disturbed during gutter cleaning.

I don't know if he hitched a ride into the house on the tree (the tree has been inside for 2 weeks) or if it came inside some other way.

Can someone positively ID him from the photo? A sugar glider, right?
